Protein Hair Treatment from your refrigerator

So I have had several blowouts recently on my hair and even though I really liked the straight look for a while, I was ready to see my curls again. 

Me, I’m a product junkie and I always look for the next, best moisturizers, masks, conditioners etc for my hair. All these products claim to be “the best” but not all products work for all hair types. And it definitely requires a master’s degree in hairology to find the PERFECT group of products for optimal hair health. 

I found that my hair wasn’t as thick as it use to be and kinda breaking and shedding more than necessary (IMO of course). I tried conditioners and treatments but decided to go back to my roots. My mother and grandmother (growing up on the islands) always used things from their backyard or fridge for their beauty regimen (yes that’s where I get it from). 

If your hair is lacking protein (which hair is predominantly made from) it will be thinning and brittle. And we all no a lack of moisture leads to breaking as well as a lack of shine. So for a super moisturizing and protein-packed hair treatment I opted for an egg and mayo concoction.

Ingredients: (double the recipe for really thick hair)

  1. 1 egg 
  2. 1 tbsp mayonnaise 

Using a fork or whisk, mix the ingredients very well (I used a spoon but a fork is so much faster). The mixture should be kinda fluffy and light yellow.

Apply to dry hair and massage through. Cover hair with a shower cap and let sit for at least 20 mins (I left mine for like 45 mins while I made breakfast). Do not add any heat!

When the time comes, rinse hair with COOL water (warm water will give you “boiled” eggs in your hair!). When you’re done rinsing, shampoo and condition as usual. 

Your hair will be super soft and over time get even fuller. Do this treatmean 1 or 2 times a month to see great results.
